Cloud Bracket
Over the next few weeks the cloud brackets will be fabricated and installed on to the capital of each tapered pillar within the main shrine room of the temple.
They are being made from a heavy-duty concrete called Jesmonite. Each cloud bracket weighs 40kg and will be supported by a cantilevered frame that it is fixed to.
The cloud bracket follows traditional proportions in its shape and size. Its underside is shaped like a cloud and it is adorned with beautifully decorated
flowers. Depending on which particular pillar it is, a norbu, a wish-fulfilling jewel, or the Kirtimukha face, the protector of the temple, will adorn the face of the cloud bracket.
Orgyen Tobgyal Rinpoche himself guided this process and said where to either put the norbu or the Kirtimukha face.
Each cloud bracket will then be richly painted and gilded to fully bring out the exquisite carved design. The cloud brackets were originally carved by our wood-carver who made an exact copy of Lerab Ling’s.
