21,000 Lamps

Lighting 21,000 Lamps of Hope

On Losar, February 28th 2025, the first day of the Tibetan New Year, the Dzogchen Beara community began a vast offering of light dedicated to harmony in the world.

Deeply moved by the suffering and division we witness across the world we are inspired to offer this light as a spiritual response—an expression of a heartfelt wish for healing, unity, and peace.

In this spirit of hope and renewal, we invite you to take part in our profound offering of 21,000 Lamps of Hope, which will continue until September.

The Meaning of Lighting Lamps

Throughout history, the offering of light has been a powerful symbol in all great spiritual traditions. In Tibetan Buddhism, lamps represent the light of wisdom, dispelling ignorance and illuminating the brilliance of our true nature.

Every day, 108 lamps will be lit in our beautiful butter-lamp house, accompanied by prayers that the darkness of confusion and suffering may be lifted, and that the innate wisdom and compassion within every being may radiate forth, transforming conflict into harmony.

How You Can Get Involved

If you are at Dzogchen Beara, you are warmly invited to join this simple yet powerful daily ceremony, held after Loving Kindness practice at 3.15 pm daily.

Each lamp, lovingly cleaned, polished, and filled every morning, can be sponsored with a €2 donation, and you are welcome to dedicate as many as you wish throughout the year.

This is the first time we have undertaken such a vast offering, and we humbly ask for your support to bring this vision to life—for the benefit of all beings.

May this year of the Female Wood Snake bring you good health, abundance, happiness, and unshakable peace of mind.

With all our love,
The Dzogchen Beara Community
